Carp 18 Lyrics

The Coolest Place On Earth
  by Joe Fahey

looking at the cinder blocks that line these basement walls
it's just another thursday night and my mind begins to crawl
never could've faced the heat with anyone but you
look up at those ceiling tiles and I can see they're coming down
I see that faded newsprint clipping that’s followed us around

It says "the coolest place, the coolest place on earth"
with duct tape holding on for everything it’s worth
the coolest place, the coolest place on earth

now the lyric sheets are mildewed in a pile over there
every time I try and turn a page the paper starts to tear
I thought we’d go forever but we just ran out of air
splintered drumsticks
broken strings
empty beer cans in a mound
when a band falls at the frost line does it even make a sound?

it was the coolest place, the coolest place on earth
and we barely made a mark, never clinched that playoff berth
it was the coolest place, the coolest place on earth

it was the coolest place, the coolest place on earth
and I miss that place for what that might be worth
the coolest place, the coolest place on earth
the coolest place, the coolest place on earth
the coolest place, the coolest place on earth
the coolest place, the coolest place on earth
